Based on comments received over past years, we have made some changes to the Maine Model Railroad Tour for this year and going forward. The comments can be summarized as follows: too close to Labor Day, too many layouts, too much distance, too little time. So, we have moved the tour to the LAST WEEKEND of SEPTEMBER, Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. The AREA will be LIMITED each day, which will reduce the number of layouts and the distance needed to be covered.
SATURDAY, September 28, the tour area will be YORK and CUMBERLAND counties. SUNDAY, September 29, the tour area will be ANDROSCOGGIN, KENNEBEC, SAGADAHOC and LINCOLN counties. Next year, the areas will switch days. Together, these counties include over 80% of the layouts previously seen on the tour. If you are outside one of these counties, or find the scheduled day inconvenient, we will, of course, include you with your realization that you might not have as many guests as layouts in the defined areas.
So, if you would like to be a host on the 2019 tour, please let me know. I will list you on the appropriate date based on where you live, unless you make a specific request otherwise.
